Do you know who your Authorized Representative is for your Dealership?  What is an Authorized Representative?  An Authorized Representative is the Dealer or someone who, in the absence of the Dealer, may vote at any called Dealer business meeting and/or serve on the SCADA Board of Directors.

SCADA By-Laws: 

SECTION 4.   AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE – Each member which is a person, firm, partnership or corporation shall appoint and designate in its application for membership, an individual associated with such member in said member’s place of business relating to the automotive industry, who shall in the absence of the member represent and act for the member in all the affairs of the Association.  Such individual shall be known and referred to as the “Authorized Representative.”

The SCADA Nominating Committee met on March 15 to prepare the slate of nominations for Officers and Members of the Board of Directors to be elected for the year 2018-2019. Below you’ll find a link to view the slate of Officers and Directors that will be presented to the SCADA Membership at the Annual Dealer Business Meeting for a vote on Friday, May 18 beginning at 8:45 AM.

The Annual Dealer Business Meeting will be a part of the SCADA 2018 Convention at The Ritz-Carlton at Amelia Island, FL.

During January through March 2018, the Department reviewed a total of 614 advertisements (including non-auto ads).  These ads were in a variety of media including newspapers, websites, television, and radio.  The following information is provided regarding the auto advertisements reviewed:

• Letters issued: 68 violation letters; 15 letters seeking clarification only
• Most common violations:
  • Failing to disclose whether the car is new or used (28)
  • Truth In Lending Act (20)
  • Closing Fee Excluded (14)
• We issued fines to 6 auto dealers for a 2^nd violation within 6 months

A Columbia Dealer has asked that we inform the Dealer body of the recent criminal activity at their Dealership.  The first incident took place at the car wash area followed by two break-ins at the Dealership.  Money was stolen from the safe and cash boxes were taken.  We encourage all Dealers to be safe and vigilant when it comes to protecting all Dealership personnel and property.
