Temp Tag Legislation Passes House Education Committee
Please take the time to personally thank Representative Jason Elliott (R-Greenville) for spearheading the passage of S.1083 through the full House Education Committee process this week. These two representatives, as well as the majority of House Education Committee members have been loyal supporters of our Dealer body. The bill now heads to the House floor for passage. We encourage you reach out to your representative and ask for their support of S.1083.
Talking Points for S. 1083
- New temporary tags to have identification number which allows law enforcement and authorized entities to electronically identify the owner, their address, date of purchase, Dealership place of purchase;
- DMV to design the tags and other specifications which will allow for the top 50% of the tag to feature Dealer advertising and identification;
- The bill privatizes the administration of the temporary tag program thereby removing the cost from State government savings hundreds of thousands of dollars;
- Dealers will be limited to charging a fee of the actual cost of issuing a temporary license plate plus standard shipping and handling costs;
Please reach out to House members to vote in favor of this important piece of legislation!!!
